Privacy and data protection laws

La Comba takes the protection of your personal data seriously and adheres strictly to all applicable data protection laws. However, every transfer of data via the internet entails a potential security risk that makes complete protection from third-party access impossible. The legal basis for data protection in Germany is mainly set out in the Bundesdatenschutzgesetz (BDSG /Federal Data Protection Act) and Telemediengesetz (TMG /German Teleservices Act). The provisions described below provide you with information in regard to the type, scope and purpose of capturing, usage and processing of personal data by the provider:

Personal data

In accordance with applicable law, use of this website follows as a matter of principle without disclosure of the identity of the visitor to the website. Personal data, such as name and email address, are only registered if visitors to the website provide such data actively and of their own accord, as for example is the case when filling out a contact form. However, data transfer is not encrypted, making it impossible to absolutely exclude the possibility of third parties gaining unauthorised knowledge of such data. Personal data provided by visitors to the website will only be stored, processed or used for the purposes of processing the request. Such data are not sold, leased or passed on to any third party. Data referring to the user are captured only to the extent required for technical purposes and are rendered anonymous.

La Comba will temporarily automatically store on its server information from log files transmitted by the user’s browser. These include the type and version of the browser, operating system used, referrer URL (the previously visited site), hostname of the computer accessing the site (IP Address), and date and time of server request. This data cannot be allocated to any specific person by the owner of the website. The data is not combined with data from other sources. It is also deleted following statistical evaluation Following the same principle, La Comba makes statistical information available to the Verwertungsgesellschaft Wort (VG Wort). To this end, La Comba integrates so-called counters in the texts so that authors on the website have access to their royalties from second utilization rights. Each counter consists of a tiny invisible diagram that is stored on the VG Wort server. It gives VG Wort the option of retrieving the above-mentioned statistical information from all internet pages where such tracking pixels have been included. Other than that, the inactive diagram does not interact with visitors‹ personal data and does not provide any customized information.

Cookies

La Comba uses cookies in several places they are needed. They serve to make our services more user-friendly, more efficient and safer. Cookies are small text files that are placed on the user’s computer and stored by the user’s browser, allowing La Comba to read this specifically created brief piece of information at a later time. The IP address stored in the cookies allows La Comba to draw conclusions about any earlier contact with the user, but does not in any way allow analysis of the user’s internal data. The use of cookies is normally limited to session cookies that are automatically deleted when the visit has ended. If cookies are stored until after a session has been closed, they can easily be deleted via specific browser functionalities. Browsers can also be set to always reject cookies. This setting does, however, make the website less user friendly. Cookies do not cause damage to your computer and do not contain any viruses.
